Marriage License Information
All of North Carolina's 100 Register of Deeds offices issue marriage licenses that can be used anywhere is in the state. The cost of the license is $60 cash and can be used immediately upon issuance and is good for 60 days. The original license must be returned to the county where it was issued.
For more information, you can contact Wake County at 919-856-5460. To obtain a marriage license, both the prospective Bride and Groom must appear together NO BLOOD TEST REQUIRED.
Applicants who wish to obtain a marriage license in Wake County may complete their application online or at the Wake County Register of Deeds office located at Wake County Justice Center, 300 S. Salisbury St., Suite 1700, Raleigh, NC 27602.
Applicants must show their valid ID, proof of social security and sign the marriage license at the Wake County Register of Deeds office. Marriage licenses are issued between 8:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.
What if I don't have a Social Security number?
Applicants who are not eligible for a Social Security number may obtain a marriage license by signing an affidavit attesting to this fact. The affidavit is available in the Register of Deeds office or online.
